Here is Caleb contributing to our outside chores. He is great about pulling sticks and rocks out of the flower beds--then trying to sneak them into the house. He calls the sticks his "sharp swords" (he says it less audibly though) and uses the rocks as leverage over Carly. When Josh arrives home, he wastes no time in throwing Caleb's dirty sticks back outside . . . and the next day the process starts all over again.
Here is Carly chopping weeds with her homemade garden hoe. The plot she is weeding is her "flower petal garden." As the summer heated up and the flowers started losing their petals, Carly would gather up the petals and plant them in her own secret plot, hoping to grow beautiful blossoms for Fall. She works surprisingly hard on her project . . . Hopefully a miracle blossom or two will appear before we have to move.
Here's our roto-tiller. James is the best help of all. He will till up rocks, dirt, top soil, fertilizer, dog food, and pretty much anything in his path. He uses his mouth, teeth, fingers, and anything he can get ahold of. James is by far the most effective weed puller; we just have to make sure that he doesn't get too close to the plants.
